I spent the majority of my childhood in Zimbabwe sailing small boats & rowing, finally competing in the nationals. When I came to the Med in 1999 I joined a large yachting company which operates charter boats around Malta and Sicily. Starting as deck hand I worked up through the ranks, before going on to gain my yachting qualifications in the UK in late 2001. With my commercial tickets in hand I joined as captain of America - a replica of the first Admirals Cup winner - a beautiful privately owned classic Schooner, & also took on her sister ship Midsummer. We sailed and chartered in North Europe, the Mediterranean, North Africa & the Indian Ocean, also competing in the classic regattas. Having gained vast experience I decided to go back to shore base, and offer a yacht services company for non-crewed private yachts, which has grown organically into the full service & support company that Yacht Help is today. |

Having grown up in Zimbabwe - a land locked country - I first came to Malta in 1997 in search of adventure, and the opportunity to broaden my experience in the yachting industry. I began my career working for a reputable charter company offering day cruises around the islands on a brand new 67ft catamaran. At the end of the first season, we sailed out of the Med to the coast of Gambia where we spent the winter running day trips in and around the coasts beautiful lagoons. I ventured back to the UK with some experience, and undertook various yachting courses to broaden my knowledge. Once qualified, I returned back to the Maltese islands to skipper and manage some privately owned motor yachts. As a skipper in Malta I realised how difficult it could be at times to have works done, properly, on time and within budget - the top three priorities for any Captain. When my brother arrived back from captaining big private sailing yachts in 2007, we decided to combine our knowledge and experience and launch Yacht Help in July 2007. We started small, but soon found that many yachtsmen in Malta needed a company like ours – willing, experienced, efficient and most of all committed to their priorities. |
